Can I set account limits?

Yes, absolutely.

Starting 11 encourages healthy user behavior and takes this issue extremely seriously. We are committed to helping if you or someone you know is unable to engage in responsible play.

You can request a limit on the amount of funds you can play on Starting 11 by emailing Certain family members or third parties can also request account limits by emailing

Via the mobile app, you can also use the "self-exclusion" feature by clicking on the “account limits” button on Starting 11’s main menu or the “Click here to set a limit on your account” link available on the deposit screen.

Selecting “account limits” or “Click here to set a limit on your account” will take you to a screen where you may select a specific deposit limit and/or a specific length of the exclusion (in days, weeks, or months). After the specific limitation has been selected, you will receive a dialog box in-app confirming the limitation.

The minimum amount of time you may request self-exclusion be imposed is six (6) months, but not more than twelve 12 months.  Upon request, such self-exclusion may be extended for one or more periods of at least six (6) months.  At the end of the period chosen by the user, self-exclusion remains in place, for a minimum of 7 years, unless the user takes positive action to play cash games again. To end the self-exclusion, you must contact Starting 11 at to set up a telephone or in-person meeting regarding the request to end the self-exclusion.

If an account limits request is made, Starting 11 will exclude you from using the app, impose limitations on your account, and direct you to resources designed to assist the user in encouraging responsible play and healthy behavior (such as

Where Can I Play Starting 11?

You can play free contests on Starting 11 in almost every country around the world.

For paid-entry contests, entry is limited by law to certain jurisdictions (countries and U.S. states) and subject to licensing and registration requirements.

Starting 11 will offer paid-entry contests (cash games) beginning on February 24, 2018 in the United Kingdom, Canada, 33 U.S. states and Washington D.C.

We are working to expand our cash game offerings to additional countries and states, and we will update this page accordingly.

At this time, the following U.S. states are excluded from cash play:  Alabama, Arizona, Delaware, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and Washington.

Note: As of February 2018, although iPhone (iOS) players can play free contests in almost every country and can play cash games if located in allowed jurisdictions, Android play (both free and paid entry) is currently limited to UK players until certain Google Play store procedures are available. Learn more and sign up to be notified when Android play is more widely available.

How is Starting 11's Scoring System Unique?

The main thing we've tried to do is expand the pool of usable players by awarding points for tackles, interceptions, duels won, and completed passes.  Our philosophy is that if a player controls the game on the real-life pitch, his contributions should also be reflected in your fantasy lineup.

I Play FPL. Can I Play Starting 11, Too?

Yes!  We love the FPL game, too.  We think that Starting 11 is a perfect FPL companion.

Playing Starting 11 will make you a better FPL player.  The research and planning you do for one every week reinforces the other.

If you're a hardcore FPL player, Starting 11 gives you another outlet for using your knowledge because you get to build a new team from scratch every match day.

We designed Starting 11 so that you could literally build a lineup while waiting in line for coffee or for the train.  You can enter a contest, and put your FPL mastery to use, in just a few minutes.

Do I Have to Watch the Matches Live to Win?

Well, we think it helps, as watching live will give you additional insight into tactics and formations that may influence how you plan to deploy your team's subs.

But if you have to run out to do an errand, no worries.  We'll notify you if one of your players has been subbed off by their real-life team.

My Opponent and I Built a Starting 11 With Some of The Same Players. Is That a Problem?

No.  First of all, sometimes great minds do think alike.

More importantly, just because you start with some (or in a very rare case, most) of the same players doesn't mean that you'll end with the same players as your opponent.  You and your opponent will likely use different players as substitutes.  And even in the highly unusual case where you and your opponent used exactly the same three substitutions on the same players, you and your opponent are exceedingly unlikely to deploy your subs at the exact same time.

Unlike "set it and forget it" platforms, Starting 11 offers multiple chances for lineup differentiation:

1. Who you pick for your initial lineup.

2. Which subs you choose to use.

3. When you choose to use your subs.

We have yet to see an identical score in an actively-managed contest between two Starting 11 players.  If you're involved in one, take a screenshot and send it to us.

I've been playing Starting 11 since 2017. Now the App Isn't Working. What's Going On?

First of all, thank you for playing.  We couldn't have made it this far without you!

A few possibilities:

  1. You are playing Starting 11 on an Android device outside of the United Kingdom. If this is you, click here.
  2. You are running an older version of the app. Check to make sure that you have the latest release from the App Store or Google Play Store (currently UK only).
  3. Something else might be going on. Please let us know here, and we'll be in touch ASAP to help solve the problem.

If you are trying to play a cash game but the app says your country or state doesn't allow cash games, we currently offer cash games only in certain countries and U.S. states.

We are expanding cash play as fast as possible but can only offer games as allowed by law.

The App Isn't Working. What Should I Do?

If the event that app stops working for you, we recommend that you attempt the following actions, in order, progressing to the next action if the performance problem persists:

1. Log Out of the app and then log in again.

2. Hard close the app.

3. Uninstall and reinstall the app (if you do this, you won't lose any of your saved data, such as your list of contests or saved lineups).

If the app still isn't working, contact us.  We're here to help make your experience using the app a great one.

I Was Building a Team and Now It's Gone, What's Up?

If you take longer than 15 minutes to construct your initial Starting 11, your team may not save when you go to confirm your initial starting 11.  We do that in order to make sure that we fill as many contests as possible.

After 15 minutes, if your initial starting 11 is not set, the spot you have reserved in a contest becomes open to other managers (unless, of course, you're filling out a lineup for a private 1v1 contest that one of your thoughtful friends has invited you to enter).

If you think your initial lineup failed to save for some other reason, please get in touch with us so that we can fix the problem.

Why Are There No Public 1v1 Contests in The Public 1v1 Lobby?

If the Public 1v1 Lobby does not appear to have any contests, it's because the available contests have been filled by other managers.

But don't despair!  You can either wait for another manager to create a public 1v1 contest or you can create one yourself for another manager to enter.

You can also invite a friend to play a Private 1v1 contest.

Why Did My Game Disappear?

If you entered a contest, only to have it disappear shortly after kickoff of that day's opening match, your contest did not fill.  Starting 11 does not run 4-player or 10-player contests unless the contest is filled prior to kickoff.

When Are Cash Prize Contests Coming?

We will add cash-based contests and prizes in the U.K., Canada, and 33 U.S. states and Washington D.C.
