The main thing we've tried to do is expand the pool of usable players by awarding points for tackles, interceptions, duels won, and completed passes. Our philosophy is that if a player controls the game on the real-life pitch, his contributions should also be reflected in your fantasy lineup.
Yes! We love the FPL game, too. We think that Starting 11 is a perfect FPL companion.
Playing Starting 11 will make you a better FPL player. The research and planning you do for one every week reinforces the other.
If you're a hardcore FPL player, Starting 11 gives you another outlet for using your knowledge because you get to build a new team from scratch every match day.
We designed Starting 11 so that you could literally build a lineup while waiting in line for coffee or for the train. You can enter a contest, and put your FPL mastery to use, in just a few minutes.
Well, we think it helps, as watching live will give you additional insight into tactics and formations that may influence how you plan to deploy your team's subs.
But if you have to run out to do an errand, no worries. We'll notify you if one of your players has been subbed off by their real-life team.
No. First of all, sometimes great minds do think alike.
More importantly, just because you start with some (or in a very rare case, most) of the same players doesn't mean that you'll end with the same players as your opponent. You and your opponent will likely use different players as substitutes. And even in the highly unusual case where you and your opponent used exactly the same three substitutions on the same players, you and your opponent are exceedingly unlikely to deploy your subs at the exact same time.
Unlike "set it and forget it" platforms, Starting 11 offers multiple chances for lineup differentiation:
1. Who you pick for your initial lineup.
2. Which subs you choose to use.
3. When you choose to use your subs.
We have yet to see an identical score in an actively-managed contest between two Starting 11 players. If you're involved in one, take a screenshot and send it to us.
We're focused exclusively on the Premier League at the moment.
But 2018 is right around the corner. If you're a fan of Liga MX, the Champions League, or the World Cup, stay tuned...
You can play Starting 11 in almost every country around the world.
Later this fall, when we begin to offer paid-entry contests, entry into those contests will be limited to certain jurisdictions and subject to licensing and registration requirements. Before we begin offering contests with cash prizes in the U.K. and over 40 U.S. states, you'll know about it well in advance.
Even when we start offering contests with cash prizes, we'll still offer free contests because we want Starting 11 to be as accessible to as many players as possible.
Tell us about it!
We're always going to be working tirelessly to continue to improve the app. To do that, we need to hear from you. We want our users to have as much input as possible. When we say that Starting 11 is built by players, for players, we mean it!
First of all, thank you for beta testing. We couldn't have made it this far without you!
The problem may be that you're still running an old (beta) version of the app. Check to make sure that you have the latest release from the App Store or Google Play Store.
If the event that app stops working for you, we recommend that you attempt the following actions, in order, progressing to the next action if the performance problem persists:
1. Log Out of the app and then log in again.
2. Hard close the app.
3. Uninstall and reinstall the app (if you do this, you won't lose any of your saved data, such as your list of contests or saved lineups).
If the app still isn't working, contact us. We're here to help make your experience using the app a great one.
If you take longer than 15 minutes to construct your initial Starting 11, your team may not save when you go to confirm your initial starting 11. We do that in order to make sure that as many contests as possible fill. After 15 minutes, if your initial starting 11 is not set, the spot you have reserved in a contest becomes open to other managers (unless, of course, you're filling out a lineup for a private 1v1 contest that one of your thoughtful friends has invited you to enter).
If you think your initial lineup failed to save for some other reason, please get in touch with us so that we can fix the problem.
If the Public 1v1 Lobby does not appear to have any contests, it's because the available contests have been filled by other managers. But don't despair! You can either wait for another manager to create a public 1v1 contest or you can create one yourself for another manager to enter.
Starting 11 only runs contests on days that feature two or more matches. Days with only one match (like the opening fixture on Friday, August 11) will not feature Starting 11 contests.
If you have an Android device and are playing in contests on Saturday, August 12, or Sunday, August 13, you may notice that once you venture approximately 100 players deep into the list of players to swap or sub, the player list repeats itself. This is a cosmetic issue that will not impact the performance of your team. Please simply select your desired player to swap or sub the first time his name appears on the list. This cosmetic issue will be resolved in the next version of the app for Android users to be released prior to kickoff of matches on Saturday, August 19.
If you entered a contest, only to have it disappear shortly after kickoff of that day's opening match, your contest did not fill. Starting 11 does not run 4-player or 10-player contests unless the contest is filled prior to kickoff.
Starting 11 is currently offering free contests for players in the United States, the U.K, and all around the world. We plan to add cash-based contests and prizes in the U.K., Canada, and over 40 U.S. states this fall.
