Entry-Fee And Prize Pool

The Entry-Fee and Prize Pool for a contest will not change once the contest is created. Each contest has a maximum amount of total entries accepted. Contests that have not reached capacity will be available for entry up until the contest start time.

Contests that do not reach capacity by contest start time will be canceled and refunded.

Abandoned Or Shortened Matches

Starting 11 uses the stats provider, Opta, and only includes statistics from games Opta deems to be official. If Opta declares a game "abandoned" then the statistics generated before the game is abandoned will count in Contest Day containing said game. Any statistics generated on a later date when the game resumes will not be included.

Canceled, Postponed, Or Rescheduled Matches

In the event that a match is canceled, postponed, or rescheduled to a time outside of the original Contest Day, the match will be removed from the Contest Day and players listed to play in that match will not be eligible to accrue points.

Starting 11 may accommodate schedule changes at any time before 12:00am ET on the date the Contest Day.

Starting 11 may use notifications to notify users of changes to the matches included in a Contest Day.

If a match is cancelled and results in a Contest Day with only one active match and this is known before the contest starts, then all contests for that Contest Day will be canceled and refunded.  If a Contest Day includes only one active match but this was not known until after the contest starts, then contests for this Contest Day will not be canceled.

Matches are “known” to be canceled or postponed once their status is updated as such by Opta.

If canceled or rescheduled matches result in a Contest Day including zero active matches, all contests for that Contest Day will be canceled and refunded.

Traded, Transferred, And Loaned Players

For instances when a player is traded, transferred or loaned after contests for a given Contest Day have become available, the traded, transferred or loaned players may remain listed on their old team but, if selected by a user, will not accrue points. Users that have traded, transferred or loaned players in their Active Lineup may be notified by Starting 11.

Lineups, Swaps, And Substitutions

LINEUP REQUIREMENTS

Initial Lineups consist of 11 players and must include players from at least 2 different teams playing in two different matches.  For example, if a Contest Day includes two matches: Manchester United v. Liverpool and Arsenal v. Spurs, a lineup cannot contain players from Manchester United and Liverpool only.  A lineup must include players from both matches, even if only from two different teams.

Users may use up to 14 players in their Active Lineup during the course of a contest, as users are permitted to make up to three in-game substitutions during live play.

At no point will more than 11 players comprise a user’s Active Lineup; that is, the group of players who are accumulating points for a user during a contest will not exceed 11 players at any one time.

Users must choose players from all four positions and according to the following restraints: 1 Goalkeeper, 3-5 Defenders, 3-5 Midfielders, and 1-3 Forwards.

LINEUP CHANGES

Initial Lineups may be edited at any time leading up to games kicking off.  Each individual player will become a member of the user’s Active Lineup at the scheduled start time of their team’s game if the individual player has not been swapped out of the Initial Lineup.

At the beginning of live game play, when the Initial Lineup converts to the Active Lineup, users may being to make up to three player substitutions by substituting one player for another in the user’s Active Lineup.

Players will only earn points while in a user’s Active Lineup.  A player who has been substituted out of the Active Lineup will stop accumulating points for the user once the player has been substituted.  Once a player is substituted out of an Active Lineup, that player may not be substituted back into an Active Lineup.

General Rules

GENERAL CONTEST RULES

For each contest, users will create an “Initial Lineup” by selecting players listed in the “Initial Player Pool”. The Initial Player Pool consists of all players whose teams are scheduled to play on the “Contest Day.”  The Contest Day is a single day, from 12:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. GMT, and includes all real-life matches scheduled to begin therein.

An Initial Lineup consists of an 11-player roster selected by a user prior to the start of the contest.  An Initial Lineup converts to an “Active Lineup” at the time the contest begins.  An Active Lineup refers to the 11 players who are earning points for a user’s entry in a contest at any one time.  A user may make up to three substitutions to his Active Lineup during live game play each Contest Day.  At no point will an Active Lineup contain more than 11 players; every time a player is substituted in to an Active Lineup, a player must also be removed from the Active Lineup by being substituted off by the user.

The players available to come on as a substitute in an Active Lineup consist of the “Active Player Pool.”  The Active Player Pool is made up all the players whose teams are scheduled to play in the same “Match Flight” as the player that the user desires to substitute.  Matches are considered to be a part of the same Match Flight if they begin within 10 minutes of each other.

Occasionally a player may be missing from the Player Pools due to transfers, loans, or other unforeseen circumstances.

In most circumstances, once the Initial Player Pool is established for a Contest Day, including positions, the Initial Player Pool will not be adjusted. In the rare event that there is a mistake within the Initial Player Pool that would significantly impact game quality, Starting 11 reserves the right to correct the mistake after contests for that Contest Day have become available. This may result in valid lineups becoming invalid. This would most likely occur shortly after the Initial Player Pool becomes available, far in advance of the contest start time, and users who have entered contests for the Contest Day prior to the adjustment will be notified.

Contest results will be determined by the total points accumulated by each Active Lineup entry.

Participation in each contest must be made only as specified in Starting 11's Terms of Use. Failure to comply with these Terms of Use will result in disqualification and, if applicable, prize forfeiture.

PLAYER POSITION ELIGIBILITY

Player positions are determined at the sole discretion of Starting 11.

  • Points for shots and saves are not awarded on penalty kicks.  The only points available to be earned on penalty kicks are points for a goal, penalty miss, penalty save, and own goal.

OFFICIAL SCORING AND PAYOUTS

Starting 11’s official scoring validation process is only finalized once all games within the contest are final. This process ensures that Starting 11’s scoring is identical to Opta scoring when contest results are finalized and prizes are paid out.

On occasion, Opta scorers may issue a stat correction after games have ended and the official scoring validation process has completed. These corrections are rare, but can occur days after a game is played. Therefore, any changes to official scoring that occur after contests have been finalized will not impact those finalized contests. Conversely, if a correction needs to be made after contests are finalized due to a bug with the data feed or the finalization process, while extremely rare, the finalization process (including payment) may be reversed and redone correctly.

The official scoring validation process is solely to ensure that Starting 11’s contest results are determined based on Opta scoring. Delays during this process may occur as a result of data collection or other technical difficulties. Starting 11 will not attempt to make judgments on scoring rulings.

What Is "Live Daily Fantasy"?

Daily fantasy sports are a subset of fantasy sports games. As with traditional fantasy sports games, users compete against others by building a team of players from a particular league or competition, and earn points based on the actual statistical performance of the players in real-world competitions. Daily fantasy sports are an accelerated variant of traditional fantasy sports that are conducted over short-term periods, such as a week or single day of competition, as opposed to those that are played across an entire season.

In Starting 11, like in traditional daily fantasy sports, each of the players in a user's lineup accumulate points based on the players' performance in real-world competitions. The user who has the most points at the end of the competition period .

LIVE daily fantasy on Starting 11 maintains some of the aspects of traditional daily fantasy sports, such as the way players accumulate points, but, unlike any other daily fantasy platforms, empowers users by placing them in the manager's shoes.  Users can make substitutions to their lineups during the real-world competitions in order to react to shifts in momentum, push forward for a win, or take off a player who was subbed out of a match.

What Determines Substitution Eligibility?

Comment

What Determines Substitution Eligibility?

You can only sub on a player who is currently playing in a game that is in the same flight as the player you intend to sub off.

For Example:
You have Eden Hazard on your team and Chelsea is currently against Manchester United.
Hazard suffers an injury and you want to replace him with Kevin De Bruyne, who is playing in Manchester City's match against Everton.

If the Manchester City vs. Everton match started at the same time, then De Bruyne is eligible to come on as a substitute. You will receive the points from Hazard up to the point of substitution. After that you will receive the points De Bruyne accumulates while he is on the pitch.
